Garage and walkout slabs

Thom finished off his concrete work today, with the walkout and garage slabs being last on his to-do list. 

HVAC Starts

Pinewood started the 2nd floor HVAC system this morning.  We are going with 2 systems in the house, which makes for a very efficient heating and cooling combination, while eliminating all bulkheads in the first floor area.

Concrete slab

The concrete slab in the basement is steaming as it cures.  The walkout, although a big pain during excavation and foundation, really makes managing the helicopter for finishing the concrete very easy.

House wrap

Junior and his team arrived to wrap the house in preparation for the masonry on the house exterior.

Windows and Roof

The windows and roof are both done!  Normally I'd be scrambling with Enbridge at this point to get the gas service done (they tell me it's "in the schedule") but our "winter" is working out really well and we don't really need the heat.

Roof takes shape

The trusses are half done.  The attic area is relatively low, due to the height of the house, which will actually make the skylights look even nicer.

Miguel and the crew got a good head start on the walls upstairs yesterday, so they made pretty quick work of the rest of the job today.  Now we wait about a week for the trusses to arrive.

1st Floor...done!

Miguel and friends showed up on Wednesday and peeled back the tarp to reveal the fresh layer of plywood underneath.

In two days of work (interrupted by rain... rain?), they managed to get the first floor walls done.  If the weather stays like this, we'll be able to put the roof trusses on at the end of next week.  Fingers still crossed.

Framing starts...soon!

With the Christmas break extended until the 9th (hey, carpenters have kids too!), we are 2nd on the job list.  The weather is not exactly cooperating - delay on one job due to rain delays our job.  However, over the next couple of days, we should start seeing this house go up!  Stay tuned.
